Ground Central has closed? Wow, things change so quickly! I remember going in to get coffee from here before work (more than a year ago), and I would meet people here to catch up. Sometimes, I'd even spend the day working from here. A shame to hear it's closed now, it was a solid place to get coffee, the baristas were friendly, and even though it could be hard to find a seat, I was always productive here when I got one. Too bad :( I'm rarely ever in the area these days so I didn't know earlier...

Nice grungy coffee spot with lots of character and unique offerings! Got their banana bread ($4.5) which was stuffed with Nutella. One bite in and my mind was blown - the Nutella complemented the banana-y flavor so well! I didn't try their drinks but they had lots of options in the $5-6 range. They were blasting rock music, and had comfy looking couches. A nice place to meet up with friends or get some light work done near Grand Central!

An excellent chai with Mac nut milk. Prices are NY but less than Starbucks (~$7 for the large chai). I think their chai mix is more "home made" (for a chain) than other places. I really enjoyed that cup! The barista was a nice guy and the ambiance is relaxing. This location is small but two other locations are close by. And they're bigger.

Quick review time. Pros: coffee is great, average price for midtown. Ambiance is good - just the right amount and quality of lighting, comfortable seating and decor Service quick and efficient. Cons: Rap Music. I have really limited affection for modern day hip hop, and couldn't stay long enough to finish the drink.
